Dear Younger Generations

I created this video in response to a post from Global Degree.  Their original was called Dear Older Generations...posted here. It’s funny how the theme remains the same from one generation to the next…but I do not envy my children for the challenges they face. I truly pray that they find the courage to rise to what we all may face. So important to use the power of creative thought, my dear younger generation!

Painting Fearless in Oaxaca, 2017

An incredible week with Connie Solera and like-minded creative friends.  It was truly an a special bond. Connie hosts these “PAINT FEARLESS” weeks, and I have to say I have not yet found a teacher so loving. She has a gift for grabbing your heart and bringing people together. We stayed at Art House Oaxaca, a retreat that included a vegetarian cafe onsite. The bomb was the morning latte…made from coffee roasted on-premise. It was served by Alex, an Oaxacan resident who shared with us a bit of his life story. It was a magical setting to reconnect with a group of new friends who felt like long lost companions. Magical.

5 Lessons Learned

This is my manifesto. There’s truly no teacher like life itself! These 5 lessons are reminders to me to keep things in perspective. Enjoy!

Going to Oaxaca?

If you are venturing to Oaxaca, this video is my take on that experience. I had the pleasure of staying at an artists retreat for a full week. Oaxaca is not Cancun or Cabo, I felt more like I was stepping into another time. I came home with a great appreciation for water and American comforts, but also felt my heart expanded and enriched by color, music, and experience. The food is amazing, and don’t miss the Alebrije painted wood carvings.

The Landscape Changes

This video is included in my memoir, but also works as a standalone example of how to tell a story when you don’t have much in the physical form to work with. I can’t believe it’s been so long since I took the trip to Arizona up through Sedona and the Grand Canyon. It really touched Aunt Barb’s daughters, who both reached out to me to say thanks when they saw the video. It means something to survivors that the memories are shared and still alive. I want to say don’t be afraid to let people know you remember the love, and that it never dies.

Realizing Dreams

For years I’ve played my “sad story” of my “Drawer of Unrealized Dreams. I realized that keeping this in my brain queue was allowing it to be easily replayed. I had to change my script, rewrite my story in order to create a new possible reality…and then nurture that possibility until it had a chance to grow into my actual reality. I had to break the cycle of broken dreams…

Darkness into Light

This video is me honoring all pieces and parts of myself. The shadow side of being human can be a source of fear, but it can also be a teacher. The carousel of life spins us through both darkness and light, so come pick your pony and take a ride with me.

I am Worthy

I created this video as a reminder to myself not to slip back into those comfortable feelings of unworthiness. It is a challenge to step into being worthy, because then what you do matters. Worthiness begets a certain responsibility, I believe. Being unworthy was a way of shrugging off purpose; if I was not worthy, then no one would care, and so why did I have to care either? Being worthy is our birthright, we don’t have to do anything to deserve it. Ironically, as I’ve come to “own” my own worthiness, I’ve discovered a feeling of being more capable of serving others, of sharing my views, and of actualizing around purpose. Try it for a day…tell yourself all day, “Yes, I am worthy,” and report back your thoughts. I’d love to know what you experience.

A tale about fears, blocks and the Magic that doesn’t care about all that.

This tale was created almost entirely out of stock video images. I use VideoBlocks, and stick to the members content. This is a great way to build editing skills. It might be fun to actually shoot this story myself someday. I’ll put it on my “remake” list.
